The Typing of the Dead

I’ve just become aware of a surreal zombie-themed typing game called The Typing of the Dead that was released by SEGA in 1999.  Essentially, they reworked the old console standard The House of the Dead to make it a typing-tutorial.  A quick scan of the internet reveals it to be on several “weirdest games of all time” and “worst games of all time” lists.

While The Typing of the Dead probably can’t compete with Halo or Super Mario Bros., it darn-straight looks better than the typing-instruction programs I had to endure in “Computer Class” in grade school in the late 80’s and early 90’s.  I can recall being required to hone my skills on a horrible, cat-themed program called P.A.W.S., where one earned kudos from an animated cat by typing words quickly and correctly.  It was pretty pathetic.
