Here’s a great interview with Max Brooks from the current issue of VICE Magazine. He makes some excellent observations about the way the film industry has contributed to the rise of “fast zombies.” I agree with him that the phenomenon likely arose from directors–who didn’t know a thing about zombies–trying to make zombies “more intense” and so forth. I agree with him that slow zombies are scarier.
That was an excellent interview! I’m looking forward to his new book. Oh, and I too prefer slow zombies.
Max is a genius, he knows his zombies inside and out. Nice to see he is smart enough to know that zombies should move slow and that the people in 28 Days Later weren’t our loveable undead but infected people! Kudos to Vice Magazine for a great interview!
